A landmark in western Kyoto for over 400 years, this wooden bridge spans the Katsura River in the historic Arashiyama district. Framed by mountains, the river and bridge make for a picturesque setting, especially with the cherry blossoms in spring and brilliant fall colors later in the year.
The bridge has been featured in many films and TV shows, and people can often be seen feeding koi (carp) whch live in the river, or watching cormorant fishing in late summer.
