Shimanami Kaido is a 60km expressway, with pathways for pedestrians and bicyclists, connecting six small islands in the Seto Inland Sea. The road links Onomichi, Hiroshima prefecture, to Imabari in Ehime prefecture. Each bridge between islands has a unique shape, and observatories give visitors sweeping views of the Seto Inland Sea. Highlights on the islands include the Innoshima Suigun Pirates Castle, Ikuo Hirayama Museum of Art, and Oyamazumi-jinja Shrine. The area’s mild climate makes the Shimanami Kaido perfect for cycling.
