About 15 minutes from Tadanoumi Port, this small island, just 4km in circumference, is known for being home to some 700 wild rabbits, and attracts all kinds of tourists seeking solace and healing. The Poison Gas Museum and other sites within Okunoshima tell of the island’s history of housing a poison gas factory until the end of World War II. The island is currently part of a national park, and contains a number of facilities such as the National Vacation Village Okunoshima, which offers accommodation, a hot spring, and local delicacies, as well as a campsite and the Okunoshima Visitor Center.
