At 535 meters, the highest on the island, this mountain was worshipped in the area as holy. Mt. Misen is now a popular sightseeing spot and its virgin forests are designated as a national monument. You can see views of the Inland Sea and Shikoku Mountains from the top. The Gumonjido Hall, founded by Kobo Daishi, and the Sankido Hall and Dainichido Hall are near the summit, where visitors can find numerous strangely-shaped stones that seem to evoke the wild beauty of the mountain.
